Gal 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
(Message bible) You crazy Galatians! Did someone put a hex on you? Have you taken leave of your senses? Something crazy has happened, for it’s obvious that you no longer have the crucified Jesus in clear focus in your lives. His sacrifice on the cross was certainly set before you clearly enough.
If we are not focused on Christ then we have chosen to focus on something else and it could be the python spirit which begins to hold our attention.
Python Spirit is a territorial spirit and its job is to hold the territory so the redemptive purposes of God cannot be made manifest on the earth. It operates with other spirits i.e. Jezebel, Leviathan, Absolom and probably many others. The demonic world is a network and many principalities work together to destroy lives and nations.
Some Characteristics of Python Spirit:
Crushes and squeezes then releases and then again compresses. This could manifest in our lives and nations as a place of hopelessness then suddenly a release and can almost taste the breakthrough and then taken back into place of hopelessness.
If people’s hope and dreams are crushed, the human instinct is to withdraw or fight. So people will feel isolated, lonely, not belonging, unwanted and react on those emotions by becoming fearful, weary, agitated, contentious and defensive.
False prophetic takes root.
Constricting the flow of finances. People’s hearts will be tuned to “love of money” and “fear of loss”.
Climate of lethargy, prayerlessness and inability to worship. Cause a false spirit to function so it looks like life is flowing
Grow ambition, greed, gossip, rebellion, lies, manipulation and slander in us. (When people are losing their love, fear of God, focus on Christ, then our hearts soil become available for all the other seeds to grow.
For the word says our hearts are wicked (Ref Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?)
Mark 7:21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come–sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.
Jentzen Franklin says in his book – Spirit of Python – this spirit cannot be removed out of our lives through positive thinking nor motivational speeches. We have to deal with the issues in our hearts that allow this spirit to operate and squeeze us. It will take spiritual warfare and we must allow the Holy Spirit to impassion us to love Christ with all our hearts, minds and strength. To love what God loves and hate what He hates. To set our minds like flint toward the purposes of God and close doors of anything else that draws us away from our focus on Christ and the Cross of Calvary. He encourages us to break through the barriers and move into a new dimension. Push on and break through the limitations of the enemy. Break through to the vision and passion God originally placed in you for His will and purpose to be established in you, in your bloodline and in the nation.
